About Us
NAB (National Association for the Blind), India was established in 1952 to support and empower blind individuals across the country, under the patronage of the President of India.
In 1984, NAB expanded its presence nationwide. The Maharashtra state unit was formed in Nashik under the patronage of the Governor of Maharashtra to serve beneficiaries throughout the state. Similar units were created across all Indian states.
In 1992, NAB Maharashtra guided the formation of district-level units in 18 districts. Among them, the Satara district unit was inaugurated on 19th March 1992 under the patronage of the District Collector of Satara. The branch was led by Mr. Pandurang Shinde as President, supported by Mr. Shivajirao Patil as Secretary and Mr. Bhagwanrao Jagdale as Treasurer.
Today, NAB Satara operates under a dynamic Board of Directors with an active President, Secretary, and Treasurer. The unit executes various initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of life for blind individuals—supporting their everyday needs, promoting education, enabling entrepreneurship, and improving economic conditions through employment opportunities and small business support.
